Blas Garrido

Prof. Blas Garrido, Education: Degree in Physics, 1989, Master in Advanced Materials, 1990, Master in Microelectronics, 1991, PhD in Physics (Microelectronics), 1993. Dr. Blas Garrido is Full Professor at the University of Barcelona. Since 2003, he leads the Optoelectronics Research Group at the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering of the University of Barcelona (DEEB). He is also the Director of the Technology Transference unit of the Department called CEMIC. His main research focus is on advanced (nanostructured, 2D, TCOs, biocompatible) materials and devices for photovoltaics, light emitting devices and integrated optoelectronics/photonics and he has led several projects, networks, docent activities and other initiatives in these fields. Prof. Garrido is also interested in nanoelectronics, especially on quantum transport in dielectric materials and superlattices and in new devices like memristors, 2-dimensional, single electron and single photon devices. Additionally, he has recently started some research and engineering work on chip on board (CoB), multispectral devices and systems for human centric lighting (HCL). Thanks to his later achievements in this field he has co-founded the start-up Enlighting Technologies in 2017. Prof. Blas Garrido has participated as group leader and as workpackage leader in 6 European projects of 6th and 7th framework program, and in 7 National Projects, all of them related with optoelectronic and photovoltaic materials and devices. He is teaching in the Photonics, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Renewable Energy Masters of the University of Barcelona (and other partners) and has supervised 14 PhD theses and more than 20 master and degree theses. Prof. Garrido has published more than 270 papers and participated in more than 320 contributions to international conferences, including 43 invited.
