Ignasi Juvells

Ignasi Juvells Prades (Manresa, 1949) is Full Professor at the Applied Physics and Optics Department of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Barcelona. He received the MS degree in Physics in 1972 and his PhD degree in 1977 from the University of Barcelona. He joined the faculty of the University of Barcelona in 1972 and has been working on digital and optical image processing, image quality analysis, holography, 3-D optical pattern recognition, optical information processing and applications on biological and medical images. He is teaching optics and photonics in the aforementioned university. His actual research is focused on the development of computational methods for the study of highly focused electromagnetic fields and its applications on microscopy and optical tweezers. He is the author/co-author of over one hundred scientific papers and about two hundred conference communications related to optics and photonics. He is member of the Catalan Physical Society, the Spanish Optical Society and the European Optical Society.
