Ramon Vilaseca

Ramon Vilaseca received his BS-MSc degree in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona in 1971 and his PhD from the same University in 1976. He has been with Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, Paris), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Universitat de València. Since 1992 he is professor of applied physics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Technical University of Catalonia, UPC), where he teaches physics and photonics courses. His research work is primarily focused on nonlinear optics and nonlinear dynamics, in subjects such as nonlinear photonic crystals, laser dynamics, and control of light beam propagation in structured materials. He is author of more than 170 papers and one review book about Laser Dynamics, has supervised 11 PhD thesis, has been responsible for many research projects funded by national and European agencies, and has been organizer of several scientific conferences. He has been director general of Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and presently he is the director of the Master in Photonics.
