Joan M. Gené

Joan M. Gené

Joan M. Gené received the M.Sc. (Feb’2001) and Ph.D. (Feb’2005) degrees in telecommunications engineering from telecommunications school of Barcelona and signal theory and communications department, respectively, both at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He is currently associate professor at telecommunications school of Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and member of the optical communications group. His research has been focused on advanced modulation formats for future fiber-optic communications. He was recently (Sep’2005 – Aug’2006) involved in a postdoctoral stage at Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent, in Holmdel, NJ (USA). The activity during this period was related to electronic signal processing applied to optical communications. His current research interests are advanced transmission schemes for high capacity fiber-optic systems, digital signal processing, and polarization-mode dispersion (PMD).
