Meritxell Vilaseca

Meritxell Vilaseca is full professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She obtained a BSc in Optics and Optometry from the UPC in 1996, in Physics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2000, and a PhD in Optical Engineering from the UPC in 2005.  She is the scientific director of the CD6 (Center for Sensors, Instruments, and Systems Development), a research center of the UPC operating in the field of optics and photonics engineering. Vilaseca’s research spans various aspects of optics and photonics engineering, including color technology, multispectral imaging, and visual optics, applied to biomedicine, precision agriculture and industrial applications. She has authored more than 60 journal papers and holds 9 patents, 4 of them licensed to companies. She has participated in more than 90 research projects (public and privately funded), leading 29, and presented more than 180 communications in international and national conferences (13 invited). She has supervised 10 PhD theses and currently oversees 2 pre-doctoral students in the Optical Engineering Doctoral Program of the UPC. At present, she is a member of the TC8 -07 Technical Committee of the 8th Division of the CIE (International Commission on Illumination) "Multispectral Imaging".
