David Artigas
David Artigas received the BSc degree in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona in 1990 and the PhD degree in Sciences from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain in 1995, where he subsequently became Senior Researcher. In 1998, he gained a lecturer position as associated professor in Electromagnetic fields and Laser at the Telecommunication School, UPC, and become Full Professor in 2021. In 2001, he stayed for one year at the Heriot-Watt University, Scotland, UK, as a visiting scholar. He joined ICFO-The Institute of Photonics Sciences in Barcelona, Spain, in 2006 where he became Staff Scientist. He was appointed Head of ICFO Academic Affairs in 2009-2015 and Head of ICFO Academic Liaison since 2015. As a such, he is the ICFO representative in the Master in Photonics (UPC, UAB, UB, ICFO) and was the coordinator of the PhD programs in Photonics (2009-2021) and the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate Europhotonics (2011-2019). His pass research areas include theoretical analysis and modelling in nonlinear optics, ultrafast phenomena, optical parametric processes, bio-photonics, surface waves, and more recently topological phenomena in anisotropic structures. He has co-authored over 65 peer-reviewed articles, such as, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Photonics, Physical Review Letters and Optica, with a current h-index of 30 (google academic), 4 patents, 2 books, and more than 80 conferences.
