David Artigas
David Artigas received the BSc degree in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona in 1990 and the PhD degree in Sciences from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain in 1995, where he subsequently became Senior Researcher. Since 1998, he holds a lecturer position in Electromagnetic fields and Laser at the Telecommunication School, UPC. In 2001, he stayed for one year at the Heriot-Watt University, Scotland, UK, as a visiting scholar. In 2006 he joined ICFO-The Institute of Photonics Sciences in Barcelona, Spain, where he was appointed Head of ICFO Academic Affairs (2009) and Head of ICFO Academic Liaison (2015). At UPC, he holds the position of coordinator of the PhD program in Photonics since 2009, and Academic Secretary of the UPC PhD School since 2014. His pass research area includes theoretical analysis and modelling in nonlinear optics, ultrafast phenomena, optical parametric processes, bio-photonics and surface wave, and more recently topological phenomena in anisotropic structures. He has supervised 2 PhD thesis, co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles, such as, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Photonics, Physical Review Letters and Optica, with a current h-index of 23. He holds 4 patents, co-authored 2 books, and more than 70 conferences.
