Title: Generation and application of Fourier holograms displayed by acousto-optic deflectors

Date: Thursday, April 11th

Hour: 11.00 - 13.00h

Place: A2 201 (building A2, room 201, Campus Nord, UPC)

ABSTRACT: Acousto-optic deflectors (AODs) are light-modulating devices that are commonly used for ultra-fast laser beam deflection and are controlled by sinusoidal driving signals. Complex modulated driving signals enable AODs to act as spatial light modulators, what extends their field of applications. In this presentation, it will be explained how Fourier holograms can be displayed on AODs by driving them with complex modulated signals. Also, it will be demonstrated how a setup with two crossed AODs displaying acousto-optic Fourier holograms enables new applications in image projection, microscopy and optical trapping.
